Lake City Regional Airport is a public airport located two miles northeast of the central business district of Gainesville, in Alachua County, Florida, United States. It is owned by the Alachua County Commission and operated by the Gainesville Regional Airport Authority. The airport has one asphalt paved runway designated 9/27 which measures 3,500 by 75 feet (1,067 x 23 m).
The airport was built during World War II as an auxiliary airfield for the main Gainesville Army Air Field. It was used as a training base for cadets and pilots of the 336th Bombardment Group of the Second Air Force. After the war it was used as an air traffic control center for all of Alachua County until 1967 when it was turned over to the Florida Department of Transportation. In 1988 Lake City Regional Airport became a joint civil-military airport and in 1997 it became a civilian airport under the authority of the Gainesville Regional Airport Authority.
